Ambleside sits in the middle of Britain's best National Park about 20 miles from the M6 motorway, on the main A591 route through the Lake District. Although a small town, with its outlying villages and hamlets it is a major centre for shopping and accommodation, and a point of convergence for the Lakeland road system. It offers easy access to the most popular lakes and mountain walks.
